ALCA Presents “Rainbow of Hope – A Revival of Latin American Culture”

ALCA Presents a FREE Multidisciplinary Show Highlighting Dance, Latin American Music and Multimedia in Times of Pandemic
Sponsored by the Government of Canada through the Canadian Heritage Reopening Fund, “Rainbow of Hope” Premieres on Sunday March 19, 2023 at the Chinese Cultural Center of Greater Toronto
TORONTO – March 1, 2023 – The Latin American Alliance for Culture and Arts (ALCA) presents a multidisciplinary show in Toronto, uniting dance with music and multimedia, a show never performed in the Latin American community of this city.
Under the artistic direction of Carlos Islas, the production called “Rainbow of Hope – A Revival of Latin American Culture” is a scenic display of the different experiences lived by Latinos during times of pandemic.

“Through an artistic fusion that combines dance, music representative of our Latin American countries, as well as audiovisual material, we want to deliver a message of hope to the public. Despite the adversities, we have been able to move forward as a Latino community with integrity and optimism,” says Islas.
Originally from Mexico, Islas is an outstanding director and choreographer who has extensive international experience in the production of artistic events.
With a cast of more than 30 artists, including dancers and musicians, the play tells how three Latino immigrants, from different trades, cope with the pandemic. Through performance, contemporary and traditional dance they will go through different moments where they will test their survival skills.
For Martha Bonilla-Bejarano, president of ALCA, the show marks another milestone in the life of ALCA. “We have been working for the community for 8 years now, and now thanks to the support of the Government of Canada through the Canadian Heritage Reopening Fund and our sponsors, we are able to return to the stage with Rainbow of Hope.”
She adds, “And just as the rainbow represents it, we hope to fill all those who witness this great staging that we have been preparing for six months with positivity and confidence.”
“Rainbow of Hope – A Revival of Latin American Culture” will be presented in its only performance on Sunday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. at the Chinese Cultural Center of Greater Toronto, located at 5183 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough.
